I recently came across the idea of digiscoping, and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it. From what I understand, it allows you to use an adapter eyepiece to make your DSLR camera compatible with your spotting scope, effectively giving you the ability to take long distance/extreme close-up pictures and videos.
I was hoping to use this for ELR shooting, which I often do alone... It would allow me to record hits, misses, trajectory etc., and really use my spotting scope without needing someone to physically look through it. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this.
I have the camera but I'm no photography expert. I have the spotting scope but I'm going to need an adapter/eyepiece that's compatible with my camera and scope. Hoping someone in here could point me in the right direction. Any help is appreciated.

No doubt Doug could get you set up. Each scope/camera setup requires the proper parts.
There is also a setup now where you can use an ipad/tablet to do the same thing.
Either still shots or video. A friend has the setup with his apple tablet and it works very well.
It wasent all that expensive either.
AH great call, both on Doug @ CameraLand and the iPad! I think my Nikon would take some pretty sweet videos though, will have to check it out. This type of setup has definitely peaked my interest, would make for some great footage of the Lapua out to a mile!

In this day and age, I'm not sure something like an iPhone wouldn't work better. Lighter, less strain on the aparatus, less wind movement, etc. I've used my iPhone on my Celestron Ultima 80 spotter with decent results. Haven't been past about 1100 yards though. I'm not sure how well it would work for a mile. That's the reason I still want to build a target cam setup.

Yeah I actually started researching some alternative devices last night and found I could use my iPad Mini, which would be fantastic as I'm already using it for my MSV3. Less equipment to lug around. That may be the most cost effective thing to do at this point, though I think the DSLR video would probably put the iPad to shame quality wise. One of my friends made his own. He made a frame for his apple mini with a pvc fitting where the camera lens is.
He just slides it over the eyepiece on the spotter. He likes it so much he added another fitting on the opposite end
so now he just leaves the mini in the frame. Sitting on a table the pvc gives it a nice angle. Cost was almost nothing.
I wouldn't recommend the Carson IS-100. Just got one last month, and while setup is quick and easy I find that the green rubber boots that clamp to the optic's eye piece are to soft as they allow my iPhone 5 to move very easily which is a PITA when you have it sideways for landscape oriented shots. The springs on the clamp mechanism are of sufficient strength, it's just that the rubber boots are super squishy and soft.

Thanks for all the input. Will definitely take a look at my options, but digiscoping sounds like a pretty good way to go if wanting to take videos and/or shoot by yourself.
