No... they do not. Yes, they are threaded, but after talking to several gunsmiths, no one has managed to get one off with out destroying something.
Has anyone done the same thing to a Browning A-Bolt action?
Don't they screw off like a Remington?

A-bolts unscrew just like any other of the 'major' bolt action rifles. You can talk to MidWest Gun Works or Wild West, to name a couple that do such work (or at least they did before the mad rush in recent times). Browning uses a tighter thread than most, so it's easy for the ham-fisted, get-a-bigger-hammer type of 'smith to screw them up. No good reason you can't do what you're talking about, though it'll be tougher to find support if you need a 'smith locally or something.
Honestly the gun industry seems to be waking up to the barrel nut idea or at the very least changeable barrels by the owner like t/c's new dimension.I think if a smith could make you a nut which isnt really hard,it would work fine.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!
