    .300 WSM and accuracy ?

Has anybody built a .300 WSM rifle ? the ballistics looks a lot like the .300 Win Mag. and is not a belted case
It looks like you could build one on a short action. I was just wondering about accuracy, dose this round have the chops to be considered a target round.

Have built two Savage rifles in 300WSM and bought a center feed Savage for my son in 300WSM. All of them were very accurate. Very accurate meaning all would shoot five shot .5 MOA groups with hand loads and all of them would shoot the Federal Fusion 165g factory ammunition as well or better than any hand load I could make.

Have shot plenty of 3 shot 3/4" and tighter groups at 100 yards with 180 grain Swift's with my 300WSM sporter, all you will ever need for a hunting rifle.
All I did was bed the action and install a Timney trigger. I do believe it would be a good long range target caliber if you have the chops for it.

Okay fellas fill me in on powder, bullets etc your using to get that kind of accuracy. Tried some loads with 150 gr Nosler BT, 150 gr Hornady SST and 165 gr Hornady SST using IMR 8208XBR powder. Not impressed with groupings with these bullets using that powder. Read in the Hornady manual that WW760 and IMR4350 were most consistant powders for most bullet weights in this cartridge.

All of mine (3) either like Rel 17 or H4350!

All will bughole 150's and 165's.

Thanks 358Hammer for the info. Had tried several different powders in my 325 WSM including the two you use. That gun ended up getting best accuracy from WW760 though it was only minute of deer accurate. Might have to go back to the 4350 as several buddies swear by it for most of there deer caliber rifles.

Ditto! Nothing shot better than these two powders but Reloader 17 did the best of the two.

Reloder 19 is my powder of choice with the swift 180's.
