    Bore size to die size

    shooting 168 amax's
    MODEL 11 SAVAGE 300WSM

    loaded new brass
    case neck .336
    shoulder .531
    base .549
    length 2.093

    new case fired first time
    case neck .344 went +.008
    shoulder .539 went +.008
    base .554 went +.005
    length 2.100 went +.007
primer is fine no signs of high pressure

    RESIZED CASE HORNADY DIE
    NECK .334 WENT - .010
    SHOULDER .5315 WENT -.0075
    BASE .551 WENT -.003
    LENGTH 2.106 WENT +.006

    RESIZED CASE RCBS DIE
    NECK .335
    SHOULDER .532
    BASE .552
    LENGTH 2.103

I think I need to get a custom die made or just neck size them
both of these dies are working the brass to much.
Have any of you had this problem with your 300wsm.

Re: Bore size to die size

Appears too be normal expansion of a fired case in average hunting rifle. If you want less expansion then you need to change barrels to a bench rest tight chamber barrel. That will present you with other problems. Have you researched what the specs should be for normal case expansion upon firing?

Re: Bore size to die size

I THINK THE BEST THING FOR ME TO DO IS SEND LEE 3 FIRED CASES AND HAVE SOME CUSTOM DIES MADE.
THIS WILL STOP ALL THE WORKING OF BRASS SO MUCH.
