Any Nikon Prostaff 5 users ?

    Hi,
Ive got a Heavy Barrel Axis in .223. was going to put a SWFA on it, but have since decided to use a Nikon Prostaff 5 4.5-18x40. thinking a variable will be more useful. using an EGW base, and weaver tactical rings, would med height be enough for bolt handle clearance?
    Thanks

I put that Nikon on a VT11 .223 with leupold standard bases and mid rings. My prostaff 5 has the BDC. If I were to do again I would have gotten the FCD, but other than that I really like the scope and so far the rifles is showing great promise also. I've only tested 50 gr V-max with imr 4895. I have 53 vmax and 69 smk's and CFE 223 and Varget and a couple other powders to try yet. I'm already getting bug holes and 100yds.

I very good friend of mine, who has enough money that he could by any dozen S&B 5-25x56 scopes, uses a 3-9x40 Nikon Prostaff on his Savage Model 11 Trophy Hunter Xp in .243 to take white tail deer at 200 yards with neck shots. He's more than satisfied with his weapon system and kills everything he shoots at.
