Question 1899 in 30-30 and modern commercial ammo

A friend has a model 1899 manufactured in 1910. Is his rifle safe to shoot using modern commercial ammo?

Yes, 30-30 was always a smokeless powder load. No hot reloads though

.30-30 has always been a smokeless round, .30-30 bullets have always been jacketed, and pressures haven't been raised. If the gun's in safe condition, go for it.
