Timney Drop-in Trigger Questions

Hey All,

Installing a Timney drop-in on a Savage 110 pre Accu-trigger.

I have two questions.

On the original trigger, there was a Trigger Pull Adjustment Spring. On the Timney there is not a place for this spring. I assume this is because Timney is using the spring on the set nut for trigger pull. But, because of uncertainty, i'm just verifying. I do not need that spring with the Timney Trigger?

Second question:
While adjusting the trigger, i can't seem to get it down below 4lbs without the trigger going off after a bump test. Is this a problem with the trigger, my setup? Anyone have any experience with this?

Not sure what you are calling a set nut, do you have sufficient sear engagement.
Have you done any work to your sear?

I guess the set nut is the trigger pull weight screw. (Sorry for the bad terminology).

I've followed those instructions to the T, several times. I've not done any work to the sear, and i even backed the sear engagement out, so there is a little more travel required on the trigger.

How are you checking your pull weight and how are performing a bump test?

i'm using a RCBS Trigger Pull Gauge to test pull weight.

I do the bump test by putting the action/barrel back in the stock, tightening the action screws, and 'dropping' the gun on the floor with the butt of the gun. (No scopes are on the gun during this time. :-))

Sounds like a bad trigger. I would talk to Timney.
