    That's very interesting. Sub-1" groups from a hacksaw and a knife to deburr the muzzle. LOL.

    I'm never going to worry about this again.

    But I will ask - has anyone noticed that Savage barrels are harder than others? The only ones I have to compare my Savage barrel to are two Beman air rifles and my Ruger 77 stainless barrel (that I would expect to be softer than a carbon steel barrel).

    Not necessarily. Try to cut stainless with a hacksaw, or file stainless with a mill file.

    Here's my "hacked" 270 shoots great and handles great.

    Looks nice. It's amazing to me how much a few inches of barrel length can change the way a gun handles.
