    Axis II scope

Regarding the Weaver scope that comes with the Axis II package, do most folks find it adequate for the job or does it need replacement?

from first hand experience with the .22rf mark II package, which uses the same scope - imho, it's total junk and i literally threw it away.

buy just the rifle, then add on really good glass and don't look back.

Try it to see how well it works. If it doesn't perform to expectations, replace it with something better. You'll probably need to replace mount and rings too.

yes, an axis heavy barrel (looks like hb's are no longer offered??) in .223rem ... a real tack shooter at 200 and 300 yards.

basix just under 1# trigger, single feed ramp, rockite stock @ 12#, 69 grain sierra match bullets and varget powder, mueller 8-32x44sf glass.

    a bonafide lazy man's rifle.

Bud's (online) has various Heavy Barrel Axis still available. Average in the low $300's.

I threw mine away because it wouldn't hold a group after 10 shots. I replaced it with vortex 4-12-44.

just left finn feather fur in boardman put a savage axis 2 hb with a camo stock on it. it also has the accutigger and a premounted bushnell 4x12x40 ao scope on it. plans are for better glass and throw the sharp shooter scope in the parts bin. pictures will follow in a couple of weeks when i pick up the rifle.
