Barrel nut RH or LH thread?

Sending the barrel out for muzzle thread, never took one off any bolt gun yet. LH or RH thread on Savage barrel nut? Also, while I've got the barrel off, should I replace the recoil lug with a heavier one? Will that change the headspacing if I do?

If you have a decent stock, it would be worth changing the recoil lug to a machined one. And, you will have to set the headspace with either recoil lug.

    Good luck,

I agree. Anytime you have the factory barrel off is a good time to upgrade recoil lugs.

Thanks guys. Rifle is a 112 BVSS .300wm. The recoil lug that came off is .190" thick. How thick or which recoil lug would be optimum for this rifle? The stock is a heavy laminated BR type stock, which I plan to have bedded.

The .250" ones from SSS or Northlander fit perfect and work very well.
