Marlin closing?

Im not sure if this is an issue to be discussed here but ill let others decide that.
From what ive heard, Marlin will be closing its doors. I think weve heard that before
but ive never heard about it in this language.
Marlin had been purchased by a company known as the Freedom Group.
The same company also bought Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS, Dakota Arms, and H & R.
Freedom Group is owned by Cerbus Capitol Managment. And that company is controlled by George Soros.
The same person who actually owns Progressive Insurance.

There was no talk of that at the SHOT Show.

The rep I talked to stated they intended to bring the 1894C out in .45 Colt by the end of this year.

Then again, Colt is still claiming to be producing SAA's...

Nope. I don't know about Marlin closing, but it has nothing to do with Soros, and Cerberus does not own Freedom Group.

That's some mighty old information there yobuck. Marlin was bought up by Cerberus back in 2008, which also bought up Remington and DPMS and a slew of other companies. Then, after complaints from some investors who didn't want to have their money going to the "evil gun makers" (mainly the California teachers union), Cerberus split off those companies into a separate corporation dubbed the Freedom Group. Think that was in 2010 or so.

As for Marlin closing down, Remington did close the Marlin plant and move all production to their new facility in Huntsville, AL. Rumor has it the Marlin employee's were a bit peeved and sabotaged the equipment and tooling, thus explaining why the quality of the Remington-made Marlin's was so problematic for several years (2008-???). Last I saw Remington had brought in new management for the Marlin lines and totally retooled for the Model 1895's, and the other lines will be similarly retooled in the near future.

If you talk to the Members over on The Marlin Owners Forum, quality of the "Remlins" is not as good as they were when the were actually Marlin Firearms. They've gotten a bit better than they were in 08 but, nothing to brag about.

Agreed. Was at a local gunshop last fall and we were talking about Marlin quality. Carl mentioned they just got in an 1895 and he hadn't opened it up to look at it yet, so he grabbed it and we took a gander. Rear sight was offset to the right like many had been reporting after Remington took over production, but the action itself wasn't to bad. Looked at another fairly new production at a different gun shop about a month ago and same thing - rear sight was offset to the right a little. Why that's so hard for them to get right I'll never know.
