Love it when a plan works out.
150's in my Rem 270 are simply superb as well. I am half a grain below max book load....but 1" groups at 300 are the result. Just a hair under 3000 fps as well.
I ordered a McGowen barrel in 270 from Northland Shooters Supply a good while back and finally shot some good bullets through it yesterday. I broke it in with 90 gr TNT's cause I have a bunch and it shot fine (around 3/4"). I loaded some Berger 150 VLD's over 52gr of H4831sc (starting load) from Walt Berger. First three shots was .172 at 2828 fps average. Holy smoke, I have to get another barrel now. This is my first custom barrel (have some cheap ones from Midway) and this is the best group I have ever shot. I will see what it will do with 5 shots some load development later, but it was pretty darn windy yesterday. Thanks to Northland Shooters, McGowen, Walt Berger, and this site.
