    Rip 260ai...

well at 900 plus or minus a few rounds i think the old set back shilen is all done...this is the barrel from my 260AI thread...i switched to lapua brass and had 2 loads that shot very well...45.1g RL-17 and 48.2g H4831sc...at 700 rounds it was still shooting about a 1/2" to 3/4"...at 750 it open up to about 1" to 1.25" and has just continued to get worse...just waiting on my reamer and ill have a bartlein blank chambered and see what the 260AI is really capable of....

    RL-17...

Looks like a candidate for 6.5-06.

Or give it to my smith for $50 buck credit towards labor...he builds pistols and uses old barrels to make breaks.

Not to steal your thread, but I put my 243win on the chrono today. After adjusting the load from 41.3-42.3grs of H4350 at a few rounds passed 1100 I've still lost 50fps on the barrel. Cold bore was 2975fps and last shot of 5 hit just over 3000fps. 15.4 SD.

I think I'll be going 6.5x47L after the next 243 barrel on the shelf gets burnt up.

Well i know a guy well who shoots at least most of the 1000 yd Williamsport matches with a 6mm Dasher and he is still on the same barrel
for at least 5 years. This year he shot a perfect score with it meaning ten 10s. He readily admits it took him that long to learn how to shoot it.

your always welcome to say what ever you like in my threads LW...and good choice on cal swap...you will get double the life...does your action have a small firing pin? I'm not sure how much it really matters but the 47 uses SRPs.

I'm aware of the small firing pin. I have my action designer on quick email response. So if I need one I'll get one! Maybe I'll try those fancy new 130 Hybrids....
