    Long action bolt head


    Anyone know how much needs machined off back of long action bolt head to convert it to short action

    might be able to extrapolate off of this article, but why? Seems a whole lot easier and more predictable to just order a new one from Midway or the factory and sell what you have.

    sounds like an easy task to find one but been looking for one for weeks now all is out of stock or basically the same price as a Ptg they must be made of gold these days

    .125 is all that needs to be removed.

    Just order one from Savage, save yourself the headache of trying to find or modify one.

    You do NOT need an FFL to order gunsmith only parts from Savage. They have a liability waiver that you sign and they'll sell you almost anything.

    I thought I needed an ffl to do so then I'll just order it direct as I need other stuff anyways thanks

    So apparentely you do need an ffl to get you the bolt heads from savage

    I've ordered several from them without an FFL. Did you ask them about signing a release waiver?
