    New Savage 116 build

This started out as a beat up square back staggerfeed .270 116 with a no pillar plastic stock and a host of other issues, but the price was right and the action was like new. I am not sure what model the "new"stock came off, but it came with varmint barrel channel that looked original, and the heavy duty cross bolts. Probably one of Savages old Safari rifles, but that is just a guess. Barrel is a .308 Lothar-Walther with brake that I found on this forum. (Thanks MZ5) Scope is a Redfield Battlezone 6-18x44. Have only had a chance to put about 40 rounds through her so far, but it looks promising. The rifle rest was a birthday present from my wife, bless her heart. Didn't even tell her I wanted one.

That old school classic look is pretty hard to beat in my opinion.

I agree man. Thanks for persuading my decision for silver rings and matte scope. What kind of rings and bases are those?

The base and rings are all Weaver. Very happy with them. First time I have used a one piece base. Theory has it that it helps to stiffen the action, and takes the strain off of the scope itself. Makes sense to me.
