I think you are just supposed to use the G3 mag spring. No combining, I don't see that working in any way.

EDIT- I read the post I see that he says he crimped the two together.

I don't think I would go that rout, I would probably just dremmel the bottom of the base of the axis mag to a similar shape as the top of the base of the G3 mag and epoxy them together and use the full G3 spring. I would rather have a "rigged" axis base plate then rig the two spring together, but that's just me.

I'm sure he was able to get the two springs to work together nicely with the crimp or he wouldn't have posted it.

    Don't crimp the 2 together.
Use to G3 spring. Cut it so its one loop longer than the mag. HEat the end with a torch & bend it so it fits in the pocket of the follower. Clean off the scale from heating it and epoxy it in the follower. After it hardens you can adjust it so it slides freely in the mag body.

got the ext mag spot welded together with out to much trouble, the spring is another issue. dam G3 spring broke on me, back to putting the Axis spring on the follower and adding what is left of the G3 spring now
    clipped and epoxied together

Are you saying that you just epoxied the two springs together? I wouldn't trust that at all.

Since your stuck with using the two springs combined I would absolutly crimp them. Get a buttsplice crimp and put each spring half way in it, crimp it on both sides, you can use pliers if you dont have a good pair of crimpers. You can fill the buttsplice with epoxy if you want to set after you crimp it.

Definitely wouldn't count on just epoxy to hold the two springs together though.

    HEAT!...

    Propane torch.
Heat the upper coil of the G3 spring until red. While it's still glowing, carefully take 2 of your favorite pliers and shape the spring to fit in the follower. After epoxied in place and hard, the metal spring will still be soft enough to flex it a bit so it can be adjusted to slide nicely in the mag box.
REMEMBER: Don't heat more than you need to or your spring becomes a soft piece of... er, metal.

    And...
Of course all of this will take place after you've attached the Axis mag to the G3 box regardless of the method. If you did it like this you did well.

    Makes no difference.
Its spring steel. Heat will take the "springiness" out of it long enough to do what you need to. In the first 8 months of experimenting with these I tried the G3 spring, a few old AK47 mag springs, a BAR mag spring and a few others.

The G3 spring makes for less work and alignment once you get it set up. Remember to cut your spring about one loop longer that the complete extended mag assembly. The feed lips on the Axis mag will hold back only so much pressure before it gives you an ulcer.
Make sure the spring is pushing the follower up from the BACK end of the follower - where the case is fattest / heaviest.

Heat until red hot & shape accordingly. If you have to heat it 3 or 4 times before you get it, no problem. Just keep the heat in the area where you plan on bending it.

Buy a couple G3 mags. They're only a few bucks each if you shop around. You'll need them to experiment with. These are not easy to get on the first shot.

I was revising my assembly procedure for the first year before I got to a point where they worked flawlessly. I didn;t want to depend on recoil to help the next round slide up so it took a lot of tinkering.
    Have fun.

PS - the steel mag is a little harder to work with than the aluminum however, you can't weld aluminum to steel.
    And it a magazine.
    Not a clip....

    But wait...
    There's more.

I just braved the frigid 47 degree FLorida evening in my shorts & flip flops, across the backyard to my shop. I have an extra G3 Aluminum mag you can have if you'll PM your info to me.
I'm going in for a minor(?) surgery thing tomorrow so I may not get it out until Wed. of Thur.

    Send info.
