    Axis recoil pad removal

I have a fairly new Axis 308 and would like to add a bit of weight inside the stock to reduce recoil somewhat. My problem is I don't see how to remove the recoil pad to give access to the hollow area of the stock. There are no screws holding it on. So how is it removed?

remove the rear sling swivel stud, then at the top of the stock there is a small clip that needs pushed in and the recoil pad will come right off. be super careful not to break that clip you push in though, they break easily.

They do break easily but are mercifully not too important compared to the swivel stud.

Thank you both for the info. I was as careful as I could be and I still broke off the tab. Luckily I was able to trim and insert a block of wood with some JB Weld and use a screw through the hole left where the tab had been. Will be much easier to remove and replace now.
