    Boyds Pro Varmint Stock

I was wondering if anyone has ever ran a Boyds Pro Varmint stock. I am looking at running one with my model 16 204 with a custom McGowen barrel. I will be using the gun for woodchucks and possibly coyotes.

    Thanks
    Matt

Boyds or Revolution (E.A. Brown) stocks are pretty much the same, but Revolution comes with pillars installed. I bought a Revolution and the action was a simple bolt-in solution. Shot well, but we bedded it with Devcon, just because….
Now it's a real tack driver.
Boyds is on the site list of advertisers. EA brown is here: http://www.eabco.net/Savage-Thumbhol...n_p_14233.html

Check'm both out and let us know which way you go.

The Revolution is the way to go unless you want to install pillars and glass bed the Boyd's. Less work with the Revolution.

I like the Pro Varmint. I've got several rifles in that model stock. The comb is still a little low for the 40+mm objective scopes I typically have on the guns, but it's not a big deal to put on a homemade kydex riser. Pillaring is a bit of a hassle but not out of the realm of doability for the hobbyist with a pipe cutter, dial calipers, and a drill press.

One reason I like the Pro Varmint is that it's not a thumbhole style that fits a varmint barrel. It's also not $500 or more.

As far as I can tell there may only be a couple options out there for a non-thumbhole varmint style stock - Boyd's Pro Varmint and Choate Tactical.

Am I missing anything as I look to complete my 25-06AI build?
