    Savage 110 270win upgrade

This rifle started its life as a savage 110 TH XP in 270win. It was a good shooter and while it had a wood stock, I wasn't really into the pressed checkering and wanted walnut.

Here is the rifle when I started.

I started by ordering a Boyds platinum stock in walnut. Nothing too special but a nice upgrade over the factory stock. Inletting was good but I did have to send the first one back because the checking was off on the fore end. Boyds made it right and I'm happy with the result. Stock was bedded with pillars and epoxy.

I ordered the bottom metal and trigger guard from the 114, then had all of that plus the barreled action and bolt handle cerakoted graphite black. I live by the beach so wanted a nice measure of protection from rust without changing the way the rifle looked. The cerakote finish is smoother and nicer than the factory savage parkerizing too.

Talley rings and new Leupold VXII 3X9X40 and everything back together and I'm very happy with the result. Probably won't shoot any better cause it was a shooter before I did any of this, but it sure does look and feel better.

Have another pig hunt booked for the end of February and should be able to get it out to the range soon.
