    Re: Moly-coating

I use Moly, in my long range rifles. A chronograph is helpful, what you need to know is what you velocity is on a plane bullet, because the moly bullet will be slower, do to less friction. You will have to increase the powder charge to get the speed back. With moly you have to season the barrel meaning it will not group good until the barrel is coated with moly. (about 20 rounds)

Factory coated bullets have a wax coating on them, I do not wax my bullets when I coat them. You will find that with moly you have to clean your barrel less. I would scrub your barrel out real good, and get all the fouling out before shooting moly.

Another thing to consider is that if you want to go back to a standard jacketed bullet you will need to scrub the moly out of the bore = a royal pain in the butt > .

I've only made that mistake once , if your going to shoot Moly bullets - stay with them , don't try to switch back and forth .
