unless it is a target model, only 2 screws closest to the barrel end need to come out
Hey all,
I'm going to try my hand at bedding and have never taken apart a Savage. I've taken some Marlins and Rugers down, but not a Savage. It looks like there are three screws that I need to remove from the bottom, but aside from those, anything else I should be aware of?
Also, when reinstall my barreled receiver, how much should I torque the screws down? Anything that I should be aware of?
I know it's a newbie question, but I have to ask.
Thanks all.

.223 Rem AI, .22-250 AI, .220 Swift AI .243 Win AI, .6mm Rem AI, .257 Rob AI, .25-06 AI, 6.5x300wsm .30-06 AI, .270 STW, 7mm STW, 28 nosler, .416 Taylor
The screw behind the trigger guard does not have to come out, just the one in front of it and the one in front of the magazine.
Savage says 40 in/lbs for both but I consider that the minimum. I torque mine to 55-60in/lbs...
Thanks!
