are you doing the chambering yourself? if not id suggest you pick a caliber and look at the prefit barrels as your going to pay close to the same price if you have it re-chambered,shortened and crowned.
I have a factory sporter .243 win barrel laying around thinking of a new project for winter time wondering what caliber to recahmber this barrel to want somebing that i could hunt varmints and such with but must be a repeater out of short action..n thinking also cutting the barrel to 18"

What's wrong with the .243? Is there enough tennon to rechamber to anything else on a factory barrel? What is there to gain by re-chambering to something else and cutting to 18" rather than just cutting the .243 to 18"?
I would be doing the cutting and crowning but not chambering
There is enough room tennon room also not sure thats what im asking just wanted something different
