    Selling Factory Barrels

Would you say a factory barrel with sights is worth less on resale than a similar condition NS barrel? If so, how much?

The sights would probably not line up to top dead center, so they would need to be removed. Then you have a cosmetic flaw due to the screw holes. They would probably shoot every bit as good as barrels without sights, but some people don't want the cosmetic flaw.

The basic rule of supply and demand dictates that they are worth less. How much depends on the buyer, but I'd say about 25% less. My $.02.

I'd concur with the above logic

Thanks, sort of what I was thinking. I picked up a 25-06 as a donor and figure it's uncommon enough to sell at some point, even with sights.

Just to get rid of it and make some money off of it, try offering it for $30 and see where that goes. I'm only making a suggestion, not interested in a 25-06 barrel myself.

I'd start that low with a 30/'06, but with a 25/'06 I'd start substantially higher and gradually work my way down until it sold.

Yep, there's a few 25/'06 fans around and that caliber is not as common as others.

I bought 270 and 30 06 barrels at about $60 plus shipping. Both were as new Stevens 200 take off with out sights. A price might be $40 or so. I have a Browning A bolt in 25 06 so I have no need.

I agree that the 25-06 barrel is more valuable than a 30-06.

I had a very hard time finding a 25-06 a couple years ago. Got an ER Shaw on clearance from Midway. Otherwise I would have ordered from Apache. 25-06 worth more than 30-06 IMHO.

Thanks everyone I am still a couple months from getting around to breaking down this donor, but sounds like someone will put some filler screws in it and mount it up if the price is right...
