New member with a question on an axis build.

I just bought an axis in 223 and am thinking on turning it into either a 17 Remington or a 17 fireball just not sure yet. My question is what all would I need to change. I think I'm gonna go with a bison barrel. I'm just not sure what all is needed. And is this something a novice could do or is it something a gunsmith would need to do for me. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

if you go with the 17 rem you would only have to change the barrel, everything else should work for you, same bolt head and mag. with the 17 fireball the case is much shorter and would have to be used as a single shot rifle unless you can work something out with a mag to accommodate the shorter case.

What Bruce said is spot on.
As for ease of the barrel change, if you can screw in a light bulb you're golden lol. It is really simple to do, with the proper tools, ie: barrel nut wrench and either and action wrench or a barrel vice, and headspace gauge for the cartridge you choose.
