    Savage Edge

I have read on the Savage site they are coming out with the Edge line for 2010.
I can't find one locally to play with and wonder if any of you can tell me how they are?
I read the triggers are stiff but accuracy is fine. I'm looking for a couple in .270 Win for me and my son.

    Welcome to the site.
I did a review on one when they first came out. Paid members can access the articles on this site.

My impression is this, if you want a cheap gun and you don't plan on ever modifying it then the Edge is for you, anything else and the edge is not a good fit. Yes the triggers are harsh, they have the same accuracy as a Savage.

In a previous post it was mentioned that Timney is going to make a trigger for the edge for around $85, That is one converion that would make it a decent rifle. From what I have read, for a starter rifle for the one gun huner it is a good deal.

I ordered one and when it came in I inspected it over and was very upset at this gun. It is on the same line as the Remington 770 and looks to be very cheap all over. The trigger guard is huge and comes out with half the floorplate, the trigger mechinisim is close to the same as the other Savage guns but not exact, The barrel nut was smooth with a groove for the recoil lug and the locking lug stays in the stock, VERY POOR DESIGN. Overall I'll say that I sent it back and ordered a Stevens 200 and was very pleased.

    Re: Savage Edge

Had a chance to shoot my 223 Edge at 100 yards, 3 shot group covered by a dime.................Savage accuracy at a cheap price...............Shot my 7-08 Edge at 50 yards, 3 shots touching...............with trigger work, both rifles will do better. Since I'm 69, I really enjoy the lighter weight of the Edge. My 243 Savage 110 really feels heavy after handling the Edge..........

Receiver, clip fed, weight, trigger.......I have owned 200's, but like the Edge and Marlin XL7's better.......200's are very good rifles, I just like the Edge better
