110 cdi dbm saum

I'm starting to consider a project and need some help from you guys.
Plan is to build a mag feed 7mm short action ultra mag on a 110 action (currently .270) for all out long range tactical using the new berger 195gr .8bc bullets. I have several SA savages but not had dealings with either 110 or ultra mag cases before.
My thoughts are to use the CDI AI bottom metal to get a slick mag system with 5/10 shots.
Q1 will it feed the Saum case reliably and at what oal?
Q2 I intend to use a GRS laminate stock that comes inletted for a BM LA 110. Is the CDI DBM a drop in part?

For anyone that picks up this thread from a search, this is the prompt and informative reply from Jeff.
After I have recovered from the Christmas poverty, I think I'll go for the 308 mag suggestion as want more than 5 shot mag and will only be using moderate loads so 2.95" should work.

Hi the stock will need some inlet work, but it wont be much depending on how they do their inlets.
You have a couple options on setups with a WSM or RSAUM.
you can run a 5 round 338 lapua mag magazine in a long action setup like you have or you can use our Savage long action/308 box mag DBM. It allows the use of the fatter rounds and there are several mag options available..typically we would use 308 mags and mod the feed lips. the 308 mags will be limited to 2.950" OAL. if you need longer the 338 mag is the way to go..only downside is only 5 round mags available..thanks
