Savage Model 12 Long Range Precision 243

    Hello all,

I have a couple of Savage 308's that I shoot, the FCP and the HS precision, and they are both sub MOA guns. I am thinking about adding to my collection a 243 Model 12 LRP with the 26 inch barrel. Does anyone have any feedback on this rifle, good, bad, etc.? Thanks

It will shoot just as well as the others.

One thing I am curious about regarding the Savage LRP, is I noticed it does not have a accustock but the predator hunter does have the accustock. Just wondering why Savage would not use the accustock on the LRP model of the gun?

I know from first hand experience that the Model 10 in the predator hunter series is a tack driver. I have one of these in 223 and that thing is super accurate. I shoot hornady 68 grain 223 sub moa of about .20 on a good day and .71 on a bad day - and it is one of my favorite guns to shoot, and i use a vortex viper pst 6-24 scope on it.

so now i am contemplating the LRP or another predator max in 243... decisions decisions.

The LRP comes with the HS Precision stock. It is a better stock then the accustock. I would suggest the 6.5 Creedmoor over both the 243 and the 260.

I have a .243 single shot LRP with with palma stock. Shoots factory 58 grain Winchester Varmint X into 1/4 minute. Best shooting factory ammo I could find. Mine is 22" barrel with 9.25 twist. Photos below:

Burdy, How did you get the Palmer stock for it? I would love to have one for my Model 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor.

I ordered it through the savage custom shop as is except with the ft-r stock. I wasn't satisfied so I found a guy having trouble selling his palma rifle and I offered him cash to swap stocks. He took the deal and then was able to sell his gun at a lesser value

I'm looking real hard at this Model 12 LRP in 6.5CM. The action, trigger & barrel on this model are great. My question is about the stock. Any input concerning the stock?

Very cool. Mine is a bit...odd. Most people have no need for a 14.5 lb 22" .243 single shot that is set up to shoot 58 grains but it's just something I always wanted. I absolutely love the rifle. The Savage single shots just feel significantly higher quality to me vs the others. I've had guys that came off of $6k AI's to give my gun a run and walk away amazed. That makes it worth it.
