    Smooth barrel nut?

How do you remove a smooth barrel nut? I watched my LGS try to use the cheesy tool included with a Wheeler wrench . it did not work. I did not stick stick around to see how he finally did it. But I now have a model 11 with one so I am looking forward to the task.

Use a pipe wrench, and make sure the teeth dig in really deep for a good grip. Then replace barrel nut with a $15.00 machined one.

PS: In a pinch Vise Grips also work.

some use a pipe wrench and replace the nut with a slotted one
I made a wrench out of 1/2 x 2 flat bar that works but a lathe or milling machine is required
Sharpshooter supply sells a good wrench that will do the job

For mine, I start with the heat gun. If that's not enough, I get the "Blue Wrench" out. ;-)
