Sweet! That 20" barrel is even shorter than the tube i just got from TBO. It looks really handy, and, given the cartridge's reputation for efficiency, it should be a good length.

Nice rotary cutting mat as well.

The rifle has CDI bottom metal which is compatible with AI, alpha, and the MDDTAC mags. I was just trying to save a few dollars and got the less expensive magazine.

I'm looking for alternatives to the AI also because of the cost. I have one, but they are pricey.

The biggest issue I found with the those polymer mags is the limited coal that the magazine affords. Otherwise they seem like a solid magazine. Sweet looking rig!!
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Thanks guys. Presently I'm running the Hornady factory 140gr which so far has feed perfectly out of that mag. But you're right if I wanted to load something a little further out I might have some problems.

Looks like a sweet gun. What is the gun's overall weight and what kind of velocity are you getting?

I haven't had a chance to do any of these very important things just yet. Last weekend I did get some DOPE out to 750yrds but that was about it.

Will be out shooting in a few weeks and gather some info and post.

I see the apache barrel Man didn't we say this would be at least 26" haha! How come the short tube? Just for ergonomics and competition? I gotta say, after I second look - I want one... but I still want the 243 more . Need a range report at 750! Post some pics next outing!

Initially I had decided on a 26'' barrel, but I wanted to cut weight. And yes competition was a consideration, given that many stages are shooting offhand without equipment/sling etc, I didn't want a heavier rifle. Couldn't afford the 22oz Manners Stock so it had to come from somewhere.

Next go round at Rockcastle, I will get a range report up!!

Can't wait - keep me posted!!! I finally put the the two guns together for fitment - barrel channel needs to be enlarged and the center feed magazine needs to be modified so it doesn't "pop" up. I'll take pics and text you when I get home this weekend and see what you think!

Had to make some changes with the action , added the Ross Schuler break, and think I want an Alpha Mag instead of the MDDTAC. But she is coming along.

    Updates Specs

Savage 10 Short Action with Tactical Bolt Handle and SSS upgraded Extractor and Ejector
20'' Apache Gun Works 6.5 Creedmore 1:8 twist with 5/8x24 Threads and Ross Schuler Brake
    Primary Arms 4-14 FFP
    Weaver Low Rings
    0MOA Weaver Rail
    Manners MCS-T7 (NightStalker Camo)
    CDI Bottom Metal
    MDTAC 10 Round Mag
    Harris 6-9 with PodLoc

Looking really nice, except for that Manners' camo...it looks kind of smeared. Just kidding! It looks fantastic all over like a well thought out, well put together rig should.

Those are low rings? I may have to rethink my own ring choice for that scope.

Yes they are but weren't my first choice. The "gun budget" is slim right now but here soon I hope to upgrade to something nicer.

How do you like the PA scope? Just ordered a second one for my RPR and was thinking about using it for tac matches, just wasn't sure how it'd hold up to the rigors of competitive shooting.

For the money, I still think it is the best value FFP on the market. Shot it out to 1000yrds on a different gun and haven't had a single problem out of it. If everything works out, this will be going with me to MOST Competition at DEC in March, so we will see how it works out.
A buddy I shoot with bought one and swore the glass was nearly as good as his Bushnell ERS which cost him around $1400.00. If you can live the standard MIL-DOT reticle then I would highly suggest it. Sometimes you can even find the blemished version (which I have) on Ebay for $189.00 which is a steal.

With an empty mag and the 6-9' Harris Bipod attached it comes in at around 11.5 pounds. Pretty happy with the weight, but I am not sure how the 20' barrel is going to play out.

thats a nice weight and i think the 20" barrel will be fine especially if you run 123s and turn the heat up a little.
