Well due to a bunch of research on a rifle that was mod friendly and Black Friday sale, I am now a savage owner......rifle still in transit. 16/116 bear hunter. I am exited that I can spin a different barrel on for extreme LR shoots. I am also a reloader.
Hope to start shooting out to 1k yards soon.
I am mostly a lurker....looking for good ideas and tech tips.....but if I do come up with a mod....I will share. Live in the pacific north west, like wheelin, and am partial to stainless steel guns. That is all......now back to standing on your heads.

Welcome. I've been wanting a "Bear Hunter" in a standard long action (non magnum) caliber for a long time and kept hoping they would come out with a "deer hunter" or a" medium game hunter" with the same bells and whistles. I do have a 116FLCSAK in 30-06 that I ordered back in the mid 1990s when it was a standard factory maxed out hunting rifle offering. Basically the same features as the current "Bear Hunter" without the accutrigger and accustock. It has been an amazing rifle that has been my favorite for nearly 2 decades.
I think you"re gonna like the Bear Hunter a lot.

Santa Clause if you're listening We've been good.
Please get Savage to build us a modern factory maxed out stainless medium/large game hunting rifle in standard calibers.
We've been waiting patiently and would love to get one without paying a premium to have it built.
    Please.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
