    BoltKnobs.com Carbon Bolt Handle Installed

Tactical Works had the BoltKnobs.com Carbon Fiber Bolt Handle on sale last week. I picked it up for $52 shipped. Install was a walk in the park. It's about an inch longer than the stubby factory handle and weighs next to nothing.

I didn't have the option of ordering the "Tight Fit" or the "Factory Fit" and was shipped the "Tight Fit." No mods necessary as it slipped right on, nice and tight. No wiggle what so ever.

I haven't gotten to the range yet, but I love how the cycling changed. Hopefully be able to get out after the holiday weekend.

Be weary of it's integrity. I went through 3 of these and finally had to switch. The guys at BoltKnobs.com are nice and sent free replacements, but they didn't hold up to abuse very well.

The carbon fiber base is screwed/tightened over a pretty short stud... Any quick/hard/tough manipulation and there's a chance that you'll bend it or break it off. If you ever experience a stuck case for any reason, just lift the bolt but don't even try to open it - use a cleaning rod through the barrel to jar it free, otherwise you're going to be bummed that your $52 bolt handle broke.

For range and casual shooting, this will be fine and gives your rifle a good look. But for any type of tactical comps that require quick follow-ups / rough bolt handling, I wouldn't trust it as far as I can throw it.

Gonna be honest. Not what I was hoping to hear! I don't compete at all, but I was hoping to start shooting some local PRS matches. I guess I'll have to keep the factory handle in my range bag.

Take it with a grain of salt man. Just wanted to put it out there for you. I was one person but I'm sure there are many more that have been happy with their's. I love the look of the handle, and the oversized mold feels fantastic in your hand. But my 110BA handle is a close second and does everything that I need it to without having to worry about a heavy bolt or stuck case.

Would definitely recommend keeping another handle in your bag just in case, but chances are, that one will be fine Beautiful looking rifle by the way.

Thanks WTB! The only thing about the rifle I don't like is I don't get to spend enough time with it at the range!

6.5x47. I can post up some more pics over the long weekend. I had it out three weekends ago and shooting factory Lapua ammo with 139 Scenars, I put three shots in a group of just over 2 inches at 515 yards. I have some 130 Hybrids loaded up over some Varget now. Just need range time to get hard data.

I bought the barreled action used and the guy before me used fired brass to set the head space. He set it too long and I was getting light primer strikes because the firing pin was pushing the brass too far forward.

Long story short, I got it fixed and haven't had any issues since.

Personally, the large bolt handle having some heft to it is part of it's appeal to me. Having a large, lite bolt handle would seem counter productive to me, IMHO.

Looks cool though and if it's what works for you, more power to ya!

I thought long and hard about that Masterpiece Arms Chasis before going with the MDT. Like it a lot and may use it in the future.

Here's a couple more pics. On Friday, I ordered a Bushnell XRS with the G2. Not sure when it will get here, but it can't come fast enough. I was hoping to get out and shoot today. The snow and rain deterred me. Maybe Wednesday. The can (Rugged Surge 762) is still in jail, hopefully mid February the paperwork will be complete and it will get released. The distributor does allow conjugal visits, so the faster I get loads confirmed, the faster I can go play.

Awesome. Sure is a beauty. Let us know how she shoots when you get some time to take her out!
