location of the model 30F Serial #

Hi, I have an old Savage 30F 20 gauge pump shotgun. I am trying to locate the serial number and I am not able to locate it anywhere on the firearm. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Depending on how early it was made it may not have one. Older guns were not required to have serial #s and many dont.
Though some manufacturers numbered their guns, Serial #s weren't a requirement until the gun control act of 1968.

See if you can find a date code on it, that will point you in the right direction on if it came with a serial number or not. It's a small oval stamp with a number and a letter inside of it.
