    When do you give up?

Breaking in a .17 Hornet new gun?
    (Not much choice in ammo!)

I used this for break in:

I currently have over 200 rounds through this gun and it still won't group.

How many rounds do you have to shoot before you
call the gun bad and will never group?
    100-200-500-1000.

It seems to me that after 200 rounds you are throwing your money away!

Reload your own until you find a good load. That is the easiest way.

Is it the Gun? The Ammo? Could it be the scope? Could it be the trigger. Could it be the action screws? The Shooter? Could the barrel be too clean?
    Questions questions.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.

Could be the way you act when your around it. Could be you think differently about it than your others.
Could be your not a very caring and understanding person. And it could be you should have just gotten
rid of the s o b after about 100 rounds. Maybe less, life is short lol.

How about making a chamber / throat casting to see what it looks like? Have done this with couple of Thompson Contender barrels and it's not too difficult. Reloading gives lots of options. Do you reload for it or is your issue with factory ammo only?

Mine wasnt very consistent until I changed scope bases. Got rid of the factory ones and put an EGW base on it. Shot it just before my Wyoming prairie dog hunt last year. (Reloads 20gr vmax) Shot 4 3 shot groups in a row @ 100yds. All were in the .4s. I never got anything like that before changing bases.

    Better accuracy

I had the same problem. It would not shoot better than 2" at 100 yards. Then I read an article on adjusting the torque on the screws that attach the stock to the receiver. I wish I could remember where I saw it. To make a long story short you shoot 3 shots and tighten each screw seperately at 5 inch pounds at a time and shoot another string. Keep doing this until your groups shrink. There is a little more detail to it than that but try and do a search for the info. It worked wonders for my rifle. Maybe someone on here has the link that they can post it here for you.

Could be a dozen different things but here's the article I think 1059 was talking about

A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
