Nice! I built a Grendel last year using a bull barrel and a alpha rail. It's gonna be a snug fit. I had to use the Troy low profile gas block too, my bte adjustable One was contacting the rail. Let us know how she shoots.
Got my muzzle brake in yesterday and finally took her out to the range. I went with the Precision Arsenal M4-72 due to it's top honors for recoil reduction in both of comparison tests Jeremy conducted over at The Truth About Guns. It also helps control muzzle rise as the tops of the ports are slightly bigger than the bottoms to allow a little more gas to be vented upward (in theory at least, but muzzle jump is very minimal).

Surprisingly it's not as loud as I thought it would be. Another guy had his AR at the range while I was there that was fitted with a standard A2 birdcage. He was shooting about 4 benches down from me and we both agreed that at that distance from each other my rifle seemed to be only marginally louder than his. I can feel (and see) the gas blast blow through my hair on the top right side of my head on each shot so it's clearly venting a lot of gas rearward. Definitely don't think anyone would enjoy shooting at the bench next to me with it in place.
As for accuracy, I was limited on daylight yesterday evening and after getting it zeroed in at 50 yards (and having a guy talk my ear off for 45 minutes) I only had time to shoot one group at 100 yards (0.513"). Not bad considering I was shooting SS109 62gr Green Tip ammo and only having 10 rounds through the barrel prior to shooting this string. Scope is a Nikon M-223 2-8x32mm with Niko Plex reticle if anyone was wondering.

Snug fit is an understatement. This barrel measures 1.055" while a standard barrel nut has an I.D. of 1.010" so I had to open it up to 1.065". It also uses the larger 0.936" gas block, and as this is the newer Alpha rail it has the three claws that mount inside to clamp to the standard nut. They won't clear the gas block to slide over it so putting it together was a little tricky. Had to slide on the rail but not secure it to the nut, then slide the gas block/tube assembly on, then slide the rail forward/back to access the two screws on the bottom of the gas block to lock it down, then secure the rail to the nut.Originally Posted by josh_m

Not to shabby. .513 with penetrators, I don't think there's anybody here that could complain about that.
I've had a few collapsible 6-position stocks and have yet to find one I'm comfortable with. My other AR has the Magpul MOE on it and it's got so much play in it it's not funny. Sometime this winter hope to upgrade that one to a Luth-AR MBA-1 stock.

Hard to beat the aesthetics, functionality, simplicity and durability of the good old A2.
They're pretty comfortable, don't snag on anything and fill up with crud like many others.
I swapped a PRS onto my SR25 in place of the A2 and swapped it back.
Fortunately I'm one of those fellas that just fit the A2 well as is.
Maybe I'm getting older and cranky or maybe I'm learning from living :)

A lot depends on how you intend to use the gun. The collapsible stocks are all but useless outside of a combat and/or CQB role IMO. The adjustable stocks like the PRS and Luth-AR are nice for precision rifles with heavier barrel profiles as they weight more and will help balance out the rifle. The A2 (and the Choate E2) has proven to be the most versatile and comfortable for me when it comes to hunting and casual shooting.
