    .204 ruger loads


    Anyone have a suggestion for a good powder for a .204 model 12 varminter?

    8208 XBR is the way to go !!!! 35 grain Berger hp was the magic bullet in my rifle.. Just remember the 204 is a rifle that likes alot of bullet jump. Think about using thick cup primers because this speed demon is a hot round. 7 1/2 remington or any primer made for 5.56 military rounds.. When loading them to max. loads lots
    of reloaders get pierced primers using thin cup due to the case pressures. Good luck with your reloads.....

    murph,,,, ive had h4895 shoot very well also , to the other suggestions,,,,,,, check the 204ruger.com forum, its free lots of good info

    8208,h335,h322,ww748,rx10,h4895 and imr4198 have all worked good for me.

    My favorite powders for the 204 are CFE223 and Viht N140.

    I have tried 8208,10X and a couple others that slip my mind right now but the go too powder for me has been BLc-2 in 3 different guns. I have used it with 32 to 35 grain bullets, I have also used it for egg shoots out too 225 yds. and groundhogs. It did well for both.

    I've never tried BLC-2 in mine due to its inability to handle temperature swings
