    Modifying the bolt release?

Can a Lawton style bolt release be added to a Savage 10/110 like it's commonly done to the Remington M700? I know some bottom metals can cause issues with the trigger mounted release, plus I like the looks of this release better.

Seems like all that would be required would be to machine the action for the left side release and cut off the bolt release from the sear. Good idea. I bet a lot of guys with a bottom release would jump on this.

I'd love to be a test subject if any Savage smith would like to try it. My only request would be that the pin location be milled from the bottom and not the top as pictured on the M700. I stole the pics off of Google, they're not of anything I own.

Fred, Do you have time to do this type of work? Quote a price? You are the in house Savage Guy.

After looking at the action it would not be easy to do. It would need to be a different design to work on a long or short action with a standard front baffle. and you still have the sear arm that doubles as a firing pin release and bolt stop.

Surprised to see it took that long before someone figured it out....
Remington technology does not cross over to Savage.

Well, I didn't figure it would be easy, cheap, or a part designed for a Remington would be a direct fit to a Savage action. I was just asking because there are more brains wired for engineering than mine, that might figure something out.
