    throat lengths

I own two Savage rifles in .308 Win. and have noticed a difference of 0.200" in throat lengths between them.

The first rifle, a Model 14 Classic, was purchased new from Gander Mountain in 2006 and has been fired less than 300 times. The second rifle, a Model 10TR, was also purchased new and has been fired less than 100 times.

I recently began hand loading and noticed the difference in throat lengths while using a Hornady OAL gauge and Sierra 150 gr. RN nose bullets.

Not an expert on SAAMI specs, but would be surprised if that much variance in throat lengths is normal - or that there would be that much throat erosion in a barrel that had been used so little.

    Any thoughts?
