Savage barrels on a Mossberg ATR?

Will Savage barrels thread into a Mossberg ATR action. I found a Mossberg that has what looks like a Savage/Stevens barrel nut, instead of the smooth barrel nut shown in their factory literature.

I couldn't find any comparable specs for thread pitch and chamber lengths. Anyone actually tried it?

I vaguely remember the mossburg is different and the marlin is the same.

Dangerous Dan has an interesting write up on the USAshooters site. You will have to register there.

Short answer is the Mossberg uses a different shank/thread than that of the Savage or Marlin.
