Ive been trying to come up with a varmint-type load for my 270, and have tried the tried the 90 gr sierras, as well as 110 gr. vmax.

The accuracy of the sierra was poor to begin with for the few loads that I had tried, the 110 vax was better, but not by much. I was posting 1.5" to 2" groups at 100 yards. I was hoping I could make this my 200-400 yard varmint rifle over the summer 'chuck hunting season.

Obviously the accuracy is not even close but where do I start? Ive tried 2 powders, and a couple of seating depths, but found no real noticable difference in accuracy. The rifle is a plain old sporter contour 111, with a rifle basix trigger in a duramax (unbedded) and will shoot 130gr sp's under 1" at 100yds from bags all day.

I didnt want to spend too much time tinkering if this bullet was going to be "poison" for this rifle. Ive already got a 257 roberts build going, but wanted the 270 to fill in while I wait. Please help.
