    New Axis II Camo

Just bought my first Savage Rifle a Axis II 270 Win in camo from Bass Pro it has the Accutrigger hope it works out for deer hunting. List price was $429 after rebate $379.00 thought that was a good deal. Found out also that the rifle is a Bass Pro exclusive. It did come with a Weaver 3x9x40 scope also.

Congratulations and welcome to the Brotherhood. That rifle should be perfectly fine for deer hunting. Make sure you give it a one over before you go to the range and ensure that the action screws are in tightly and you're probably going to want to remount your scope with some new rings and a one piece rail. The bases that come with the Axis are notoriously problematic and almost everyone that I know that has ever had one has changed them out.

Google Weaver or EGW along with Axis. Also EGW is a site sponsor just click on the link. Amazon has them at a decent price as well.

I picked up one with camo stock this week from my LGS in .243. I had to order the Weaver rail because I swapped out the scope to a Zeiss that I already had but with the 2 piece base I can't adjust the best eye relief. Rifle shoots decent with factory ammo but I'm sure it will do better once I load some better stuff & replace stock with a Boyd's.
