    Target diagnostics

Is there a chart or table that can tell you by how your shots are placed on the target what your doing wrong? I was at the range today, 200yrds, .308, shooting from a bench with a bipod and a rear bag. My shots were strung in a 2 1/2 tall by 3/4"wide pattern. Love to know what was wrong.

You were shooting a vertical. Sometimes a bipod, on a hard surface can cause this. Also seating depth & powder charge change can help, if you reload.

Set up a video camera to the side and maybe a little to the rear. Look at your grip and how you pull the trigger. See what influences are moving your rifle around. Cheap scop and heavy trigger as well as recoil sensitivity are some other factors that will influence your group size.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well.
