Darkker, I think you need to do that again. I just plugged in those relative conditions with my 178bthp setup in Shooter, which has a higher BC than the 175SMK, and I've got 1.3mils of wind.
EDIT: Here it is in JBM. 1.4 mil
My ballistic calculator didn't have the TMK's in it yet but the SMK's are 1.9 mils, no where near .6. I'm not going back into the overpressure debate, I'm getting right at 2800 with factory ammo and my reloads. I have several firings on my brass, and very few cases tossed for loose primer pockets on Hornady Brass. No sticky bolts, no stuck cases, pierced primers or any other traditional overpressure signs.

Maybe he put the G1 BC in for the G7 calculation.
I am no professional by any means but here it is! I have a Savage 12LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor and factory match 140 ammo is averaging 2850fps. I reload with 41.5 gr IMR4350 to 2750 as it is the most accurate load I have found in my rifle. The 2850 out of the factory shows no signs of overpressure. I shoot the factory loads and then reload them and some have 10 reloads on them. I have yet to throw a case away for loose primers or any other issue rather than my mistakes. It is extremely accurate by my standards. I can shoot 1" or less @100 without trying too hard. 1/2" would not be an issue for a real "shooter" I dont believe. I have a 200 yRd rnge in my yard and it seems boring! I have to go down the road to my cousin's hayfield to stretch it out. I have shot a 2.5" 5 shot group @ 700 one time, but that was a calm day and 1 in a million! It seems to be easy to work with, but the rifle aint bad either!
Well, I guess this is what it has come to. In all that Carlos Hathcock had to deal with in his career, I'm glad he didn't have to contemplate this bs. When I get my buck this fall it will not be because of anything I have gained from a computer ballistics program. Small groups are great but mean nothing to me unless they are on the point of aim. It is healthy for one to admit when OCD has taken us beyond practicality. Another site that I frequent is relatively new and the OCD is rampant, so I have to glean what info I can and tune out the rest. When I see my buck this fall, I will take a mind set and think the pill into the point of aim, forgetting all else. This has worked for many decades and the meat in the freezer doesn't know the difference. :-)
This response is completely my opinion, and I think this discussion should be settled by taking rifles out and shooting them, rather than putting any faith in a "program" :-) Thank You
I get what you're saying Conch. Some of us who care have matched our ballistic computers to our rifles by taking them to the range and matching everything up together. If you don't make your tools accurate enough then you are only "in the ball park". Plenty of guys I shoot with shoot smaller groups at 100 than I do, but I hit more targets more often then them with first round data built up over time. A 308 will not do what is being claimed it will do vs a 6.5 or 6. Plain and simple.
^ that's why I am a 6.5 fan :-) ^
Yeah. Me too.that's why I am a 6.5 fan

LOL. You got it! Just think, Carlos originally had a Winchester 70 in 30-06 that would only hold 2" MOA, on a good day...but he got it done and most of the time (according to him) with the first shot.Well, I guess this is what it has come to. Yeah, I just found out about a year ago his method for sighting in a rifle was to fire one shot, record all data associated
with the shot, adjust sights as necessary, clean the rifle, and repeat the process the next time out. To him the cold bore shot was what it was all about. Me to :-)
you guys take a look at this......
