    Berger

    Looking for Berger bullets users.
Question: are you guys seeing consistency from lot to lot?

Consistency how? Weight? Base to Ogive? Zero POI? LR Data?

I shoot 140 hybrids in a 6.5CM. My data seems to be consistent. I don't sort them at all, and shoot regularly out to 1k yards. I always recheck my zero when switching lots or anything like that but that's just common sense to double check that to me. I try to order a large amount and get the same lot number so I don't really have to worry about it too much though.

In the 2 boxes I've shot, no; they weren't any better than anything else, and slightly worse than the CC's.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

I guess all the above if you do go that far.
I recently ordered 500 130vld target. Hard to say if there coming in with the same lot# but I guess Im gonna find out. I still have 300 plus of 1 lot# that's working just as planned.
Frankly, all Ive been doing is sending them from 900 out to1300 and they,ve always put a smile on my face. I "don't" think Im gonna run into any drastic changes when I start up with another lot# but you never know.
how have you liked the hydrids so far? How far are you from the lands?

I love them. It's all I've ever shot in this gun though. I'm jumping the piss out of them. IIRC, they're like 60 thou off the lands or something crazy, but I'm loaded to fit in my mag. I load 41.8gr of H4350 with a BR2. It's pretty slow, at 2700fps, but it'll shoot 1/4 min if I do my part. I shoot out to 1k regularly, and have been to 1570 with this gun. No issues at all.

That's a jump all right. Ive got my 130,s at .002 form the lands. 40.5 IMR 4350 going 2750 @ 4200ft elev. They took some work to find there seating depths but its all gravy now.
Can you buy the Hybrids 140,s in a 500ct box?

    You can indeed.

Yeah, VLDs like to be at or in the lands. I can't do that in this gun and fit in a mag. Thought about trying the new 130 AR Hybrids, but these shoot so well, I'm just sticking with them. If I ever actually build a 6.5 gas gun, it's gonna be the 130s for sure.

People always claim that Berger's prefer to be in the lands and I have never found that to be true. I run Berger bullets in just about every rifle I own and only one has preferred the bullet touching the lands. All others are set .025" off and they shoot beautifully. That being said as long as you keep the C.B.T.O measurement the same between lots I have never seen a difference show up on paper.

I researched the 130vld,s and sure enuff. they have to be close and up frt. to get them to work
I knew full and well that Bergers perform extremely well from fellow users but I wasn't crazy about pinching the pocket that hard. I gave in. Oh well. Im glad I did. Im set for some time for my LRP in 260

I feel like buying Bergers is like buying anything else in the shooting sports. It's like buying Lapua brass instead of Winchester or a Leupold scope over a Vortex. Sometimes the little extra coin is well worth it.

"Bergers" don't like to be at or in the lands, VLDs (secant ogive) like to. That's why I shoot Hybrids. I'm jumping them a lot (.060 if I remember right). They're not as sensitive to seating depth.

correct. I extensively researched the vld,s. From article to article. From Litzs to this and that and from my personal experience. the consensus being what you've mentioned.
I already had about 300 130vlds on hand and decided to stay with 130 vld because there doing so well.
was gonna go hybrid but decided to stick with whats working

Not sure if you were directing that at my post, but yes, I know that. I should have quoted who I was talking to, but failed to do so. Whoever it was on the first page that said 'Bergers' like to be in the lands. Just pointing out that not all Bergers are the same.

my bad...I thought you were saying the vlds were tanget...as far as bullets being in the lands or jumped it all depends on the barrel...ive had 3 barrels that would shoot best with bullets touching or slightly jammed...the barrel I'm shooting now like a big jump...I have a barlein being chambered right now and plan to shoot the 140g berger VLDs ill start a tread when I get that rifle up and running...im hopping next week but most likely the week after next.

see this is my biggest problem...once something works I want to start playing with it to see if I can make it work better when I should be out working on shooting better.

Every time I get a new box of Bergers I have to start all over again with my COAL.

this is pretty normal from lot to lot...I just opened a new 500 box of 142g SMKs and they are .005 shorter then the box prior....I just moved them .005 closer to the lands and they shoot the same.
