adding weight to a gun stock

has anyone added weight to a gun stock before? and if so how much.

i added about 4 lbs of lead to the buttstock and plan on about 2-3 pounds to the foreend.

i'm trying to reduce muzzle lift. i plan on using #8 shot and epoxy for the foreend. what type of epoxy would you suggest.

Pretty much any kind will work to hold shot in, I just get the cheap stuff.

I added some to a Stevens 200, but not anywhere near as much as you plan to. Took some used wheel weights from a tire shop, smashed them down with a big hammer to flatten them to 1/16-1/8" thickness, wrestled the steel clamps out of them, and lined the bottom of the stock with them so as to keep the balance but add about a pound, maybe 14 oz. Much steadier now, and less recoil.
Used no adhesive at all, since the spots in the stock where they were placed were a tight fit and most of them wedged in nicely. So far none have worked loose.

get one of those duel syringe self mixing epoxy and shoot it on top. it will soap in and seal the top good enough. If you do not get a fantastic job, it will only aid in removal some day when some one wonders " what were they thinking!" LOL
