I bought a 223 a week or so ago. I sent in for the rebate as well. Trying to talk myself into another one...

I thought about getting one in 223 as well but the SP101 327 Mag that they had was more important at the time.

I bought one in 22-250. $350 before rebate. Just cashed the rebate check. $250 tac driver that knocks the bull out of the target at 100 yards With a $200 Nikon scope! Very happy with it. Hard to find fault with the stock at that price.

How did you get the savage 12fv for 350. For that price I'll buy 2 more

I called to make sure they had one in.223 and they said they had two and would hold one. A made a four hour drive with a 9 and a six year old. Showed up and .223 Was sold out. Next best option was 22-250. The manager felt bad and knocked the price down to $350 from $419.

I have the Model 12 FVSS. I could nnot be happier with it. It is so accurate that it's scary. We glue 9MM Cases on a board primer down, set at 100 yards and play Tic Tac Toe

drove from Houston to Austin in Dec. to get one in 308. It was my first savage and this thing is accurate, I was planning to rebarrel but I'm going to keep this and just bought another one Wednesday in Houston with a 100 rebate. Original plan was to rebarrel the second gun to 6.5 and sell the 308 barrel unfired.

There is a torque value specified in the owners manual however, here is a link to describe how to tune the torque screws for maximum accuracy. Hope this answers your question. http://www.accurateshooter.com/techn...torque-tuning/

Since this thread got resurrected, figure I'd post the last 5-shot 100 yd group I shot with my 12FV in .22-250 I got at Cabelas for $380 last fall. Bone stock rifle shooting 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip/34.5gr IMR4064/CCI primers/Hornady brass. Bought the rifle thinking I'd re-stock and probably re-barrel. No reason to do either.

I just picked one up in 22-250. I went in to get one in 223 but they didn't have any in stock. Dies are ordered. Cant wait to see how it shoots, I couldn't rebarrel and restock my old savage for the price of the new one........

i got one in .308 a few weeks ago...thinking of getting another in either .22-250 or .308. shot my .308 for the first time this past weekend and was getting sub-moa with random shells that I had laying around.

I measure from the ogive with a Hornady comparator @ 2.080. COAL is about 2.495 plus or minus a couple thousandths. I really didn't even do load development for the rifle. I used this load in a re-barreled Mauser I had. Tried it in the 12FV, and it shot .5 MOA groups so I just messed with bullet seating a little and called it good. Guess I could play with the action screw tuning since I got a Wheeler Fat Wrench for Christmas. I have the action screw torque at 30F and 20R right now.

If Cabelas has them on sale again. I will pick up another one or two - in whatever chambering they have...

Edit - Duh, I see the rebate now. Will look for one tomorrow

It appears the rebate coupon applies to the higher end Model 12's (Benchrest/F Class/F-TR/LRP/Palma). Would appreciate your letting us know if the rebate applies to the 12FV.

Yep....saw that and agree with you entirely. Just curious why the 12 FV is not listed when you scroll down to the info below the $100 rebate coupon. Possibly because it appears to be a Cabela's exclusive?

Good to know it still works. Like some others, I'm considering my third. It's really hard not to grab another action for a future build at that price.
