I wish they would build these in .243Win and 6.5Creed!! They wouldn't be able to keep any in the stores!!

What trigger to you get with these? The photo on Cabelas website shows the accutrigger but the price seems to low for that.

Just went down to pick up a .22-250, but am delayed in the NICS background check. Ugh!!! There is also a $20 in Cabelas points coupon that works right now for firearm purchases.

I purchased one of these in .22-250 last Friday at the $390 price. It had a factory label on the stock as a "Cabela's exclusive" - or something to that effect. AFIK, the 12FV is obsolete with Savage now selling the FCV version with detachable mag. Guessing Cabela's placed some qty factory orders to get a good price. Based on tear down and mechanical inspection/measurement, things look fine as to workmanship, so I'm happy there so far. Yes, the stock is what it is - a low budget one. This is my first Savage and it's intended to be a low-cost varmint rifle (w/Mueller Eraticator 8.5X25 50mm, DNZ 1-pc mount).

    Cabela's Savage 12FV

I just picked up a 223 today. It's a good deal and you get the top bolt release.

The siren song of a new gun got me. I picked up a .308 Win version today (yesterday, really). I had a $25 off coupon as well, so I'm pretty happy with the deal. I might try submitting it for the rebate too just to see. The worst they can say is "no".

Shot mine today after picking one up on sale last weekend. It shoots good. My uncle said it was like cheating. What is the best source for the parts to convert to DBM as far as price?

What kind of DBM? Are you looking for factory magazines or something that uses AICS-style magazines?

Bought one in 223 here in ga for 419. They gave me $50 in cabela bucks which I bought bullets for reloading and with that purchase they gave me another $20 in Cabela bucks. So they gave me $70 in cabela bucks. Sweet deal! This is my first savage and first post.

Was thinking factory Savage, but if the new Scout uses AICS then that would be better. I could at least have some commonality with my Ruger Gunsite.

MY son shot his new 12fv in .223 for the first time since break-in with hand loads a couple of weeks ago. New shooter, new gun, but still the tupperware stock did pretty good off sand bags and then bi-pod. Did a load work up with 53 g Hornaday V-Max and found a good node at 25.0 gr. of 3031 and according to book, doing about 3250 fps.

Santa is bringing him a laminate stock for Xmas so we'll spend the holidays bedding it and punching holes in paper. Can't wait!

I know this is an old thread but wanted to chime in that Cabela's has the 12FV for $419.99. I picked up one in 308 today but wasn't sure if the current $100 rebate would apply to the lower end Model 12. Happy to inform that my online pre-submission was accepted after entering the model and serial numbers.

Seems crazy not to buy at least one at $319.99 after rebate..
