It's deals like this that are turning me off to Savage. Why would I want to buy one of their guns when they're doing everything they can to devalue their products? When you flood the market with cheap product the product ultimately becomes worthless.

I don't think in the grand scheme of things it will cause a major loss in value to their other product lines. The Stevens 200 line was selling for similar prices not that many years ago, ultimately not affecting the market.

Its a buyers market. Everything is cheap right now. Taurus revolvers are on sale for $159. They just had blowouts on S&W Shields for $225 after rebate. You can get a Remington 700 SPS Varmint or Tactical for $375 with a $75 rebate.

A MOA capable 1000 yard rifle will never be worthless. Most people would pick up this rifle and set it right back down. A narrow niche finds value in it for what it is.

Man, I don't have enough money...

Everyone is selling stuff cheap. It's a buyer's market.

I have two in .308 on "backorder". I called to get a feel for what that means but got no answers. Are they on the way from Cabelas' main warehouse and will arrive in a week, or are they still a pile of parts at the Savage factory and will arrive sometime next Spring?

If you have experience with these kinds of Cabelas/Savage sales, tell me about their backorder delays.

The website has a pick a store feature that shows you if one is actually in stock near you. But do local stores have to honor the online pricing?

Oh good, more for those of us who appreciate what they are getting! Shoot yourself in the foot.

You don't have to put in for the rebate if it makes you feel better?

You might note that Ruger has come out with the RA that is a budge rifle as have others.

Savage has a well paid for system, they can price it where they can make the money.

As its a buyers market they are pricing it low.

I guess I should not tell you its the same action, bolt (with some nice polishing ) as its always been.

    Bumping an old thread.
Who's buying more, and what kind of updates do you have on your previous purchases?

Right now cabelas has the sale, along with the Savage Rebate. $250 if they are in stock, or you can back order.
Looks like 6.5creed is added to the line up. Can't remember if they had that available last year.

I saw the 6.5 in the latest flyer. It perked my interest in picking up one more.

The only mod I did to mine is add a little weight to the rear of the stock to balance it out. My 22-250 is a shooter....

Picked up one in 223 yesterday. With the rebate and getting a Cabela's card I got it for less than $200.

If you are buying it to shoot and not collect who cares? I'm thrilled!

All these people complaining about devaluing the Savage rifles are the same people that complain about how expensive they've become. Never satisfied.

I had the same issue with my Stealth. I sent it back and they reamed the chamber. Now my throat is crazy long.

You have to choose a store to pick it up from when you order online, and it has to be in your state per Fed laws.

I was waiting for these to go on sale again. I bought a 22-250 the last time. I am ashamed to say I have not shot it. I wanted a .308, and figured I would wait for another sale. The 6.5 Creedmoor is tempting too. Does anyone think the gift card offer may not be honored since it states 12 FCV and not 12 FV?

Could not resist and just ordered my 3rd 12FV, this time in .308. Will end up being ~$200 out the door if the rebate works. Giftcard Zen suddenly popped up a bunch of 15% off cards but they are going fast. They had been running 11.x% for a while. For some reason I am thinking of cutting down the barrel and going with a compact stock to make a hybrid ranch style rifle. Or maybe I will get daring and try to convert it to DBM if I can find some cheap bottom metal... I have a feeling this one will sit in the box for a while and become some sort of project.

I think it will be honored. Cabelas is saying that it will be. I'm pretty sure it will be good, but obviously it can't be guaranteed.

You mind providing reference to that law? My understand is that only applies to handguns. Long guns may be purchased across state lines in most cases.

That's what I'm planning as well. Going to have a local smith cut it down to 20-22" and thread the barrel. Should be a little more portable that way I think. Now we just have to wait out the backorder!
