[QUOTE=TXRoadlizard;430328]I pulled the trigger on an EABCO Choate Tactical with bottom metal installed, just have to buy mags. Shipped price just over $400. It's backordered though. Anyone went this route?

Please do a review when you get it. I've been on the fence over that combo

I absolutely will! I expect it to be about a month before I can lay hands on it though. With the sale and rebate they sold all of them they had in stock. I called EABCO just poking around to see how long they typically take between backorders. The girl on the other end of the line was genuinely confused by the backorder status. "I know we had a ton of these in stock just a couple weeks ago." I told her about the sale and she said "Oh, well that is good to know." Told her to get ready again around Black Friday.

    Rebate worry

April 1st rebate date is approaching fast and I have no 12fv from Cabelas. Anyone know if they will still honor the $100 rebate through Vista Outdoor? Cabelas customer service says they will, but wondering if I should cancel the backorder March 31st. I get the sale price $369 but I am thinking the $100 rebate will not be honored.

I don't understand why the rifle is on the shelf at the local store, and they wont fill backorders. Price went back up $50 too.

Cant get an answer from Savage either.

FWIW, I ordered my .204 12FV on February 18th. My buddy ordered his 6.5 Creedmoor a couple of days prior and he got the email this morning that it was ready to be picked up. The timing may be totally random and in no way suggest a specific time frame in which things are running behind, but that's how it worked out for Alex. If I get my email in the next few days, I'll take that as a suggestion things may indeed be running about three weeks behind. Well, at least at the Louisville, KY store...

Anyone else have recent wait times to share?

I sent 2 rebates in and called vista. They told me it takes 4 weeks from mail in date for them to update it online. I have had one get approved and can track it on vistas website. You should get and email.

Chop House give Vista a call. When I called, a nice helpful lady fixed the issue with my rebate (was denied in error) in a couple minutes. My card arrived about 4 weeks later.............and was spent shortly after that...

Good news: order status changed to "shipped."
Bad news: another caliber to stock.

Just as a follow up, I've been sanding the barrel channel on that stock for hours and it's still not free floated. I'm running out of material at the front end of the stock.

There's plenty of stock material so it can be opened up for Savage Varmint barrels. I 've done maybe 200 of them.

I've got it sanded down to the threaded insert at the front and there is just a couple of thousands clearance now. Here is one that is barely free floated and one that hasn't been touched yet.

Dang, that’s a heavy profile bbl. I would pillar and bed that stock and try to raise the action up 1/32” or so. That should help.

I don't understand what you are trying to do here and how you are checking for clearance. The channel simply needs to be opened up a bit and then try setting the barreled action into the stock, holding the action down into the stock and check for clearance. It appears to me as though you have the action tipped down in the front, causing the barrel to be pointed too far down.

I'll post another pic of the action/barrel bolted into the stock.

Just another data point for wait times. I ordered my 6.5CM on 2/16 and showed it up 3/16. I picked it up this weekend. It looks good but you really are just buying a barreled action. I can't imagine wanting to leave the factory stock on it. Flimsy as can be. Not complaining, just making an observation.
