Thread: Cabela's Savage 12FV THREAD FEST

I just stopped by my local Cabelas today and picked up a .223 model. Pulled my normal bit of dumbassery and tried to torque down the trigger guard screw putting it back together after removing the protective goo (You can imagine how well the cheap plastic stock held up against an attempted 65 in/lb). Hopefully I can find a decent stock for this little monster. 26" bull barrel on a little .223. This oughtta be fun!

I just picked up one of these in 223 and got out today to work on breaking it in (I decided to go through the break in procedure on the savage site, who knows if it will make a difference).

Anyway I was working on sighting it in/breaking in and only shot two groups at 100 yards but one of the three shot groups came out at just under .70". This is my first centerfire rifle, first time out with it and less than 20 rounds of cheap factory remington ammo through it. As with all inexpensive guns it seems the stock isn't great but for what these cost I can put it in a boyds stock and still pay less than some of the higher end models.

Quigley, how do you know they are on sale through the 22nd? I bought 5 Cabela's $50 gift cards for $200 online and I was hoping to receive them this week. I was wanting to use them on a 12FV for another $50 in savings, but was scared the sale would be over by then.

I saw it on Slickguns.com. They were being sold on eBay, but they sold out quickly. It was only 5 cards per purchase.

They don't appear to be covered under the rebate... they're just on sale for $319.00..... A 12Fv for roughly the same price as an Axis is a steal!!!!

I ordered one already which is a great price. I was just curious since it's a newer rebate.

Thanks! The code worked great. I saw it on the checkout page screen as I was paying, but I very likely may have missed it. I used that and my gift cards to purchase a 22-250. All discounts combined, total cost with tax is about $275.00 I was pretty happy with that.

Yeah, I'm tickled pink. Thanks again for the code.

Also, I just saw the vendor on eBay has listed the Cabela's $50 cards for $40 again. (Limit of 5) I know it is probably too late for this sale on the 12FVs, but stock up and be ready for the next sale.

Bought 3 of the $50 gift cards last night to go with my $20 off coupon. A good thing about this is now I get ads for those cards on the Savageshooters website...

Had to jump on that deal. I was all set to get the DBM conversion on my 10fp but that deal is just too good to pass up. Bought a .223 and got it today. Definitely a nice rifle for the money.

Yeah, pretty good deal. I came sooo close to buying a second one. I was waiting on my next set of gift cards in the mail, which would have given me $50 off the sale price. plus the $20 code, and there is a $10 rebate now too. I figured I would not receive them in time, and I didn't. With all the discounts, I would have only paid about $260.00 for the second one. I was going to try a .308. If I can catch it again like that, I will pounce. I'm looking forward to the 22-250 I ordered though.

I ordered a second in 308 with the sale, anyone heard anything about when they are going to get them back in stock? Looks like the sale cleaned out their stock pretty well.

I was on the list for a 223, ordered it on the 16th and canceled on the 21st. They said the next shipment was supposed to arrive on the 25th.

Site info using my store as the Cabela's location indicates "Out of Stock" for the .308, but also states will ship in 3-4 weeks. At that price, worth the wait though.

    Cabela's 12FV Now Available in 6.5 Creedmoor?

I just noticed on the Cabela's site that the 12FV is available in 6.5 Creedmoor. Does anyone have experience with one of these and how was it?

I have a 12FV in .223 in an inletted B&C stock with DBM and it is awesome. Would be tempted to base a build on the 6.5 Creedmoor version.
