Short Action Caliber in a Long Action Receiver

I have an older flat back, stagger feed, long action receiver with a .470" bolt face that I'm thinking about using for a short action caliber in the .308 family. I would likely stick with the factory blind box system, which is currently setup to feed .270win. My question is if anybody has done something similar and if you have had any feeding issues? If so, how did you address them?

260 is very suitable for long action. Allows for longer bullets.

308 works fine in a long action as well.

    No issues.

I am sure there are others.

You can do it without an issue. You can find an extended baffle as well so you can shorten the bolt throw for the shorter caliber. Works like a charm.

Any more info on this baffle?

I'm running a 22-250 in one of my long actions and it works great.

Both are long action bolts. Left is set up with the extended baffle for short action calibers, right is standard for long action calibers.

I am getting ready to do this. Many people have told me it is fine. I am looking at doing a 300 WSM on a long-action.

Wont the long baffle that's on the .223/204 bolts stop the LA bolt before picking up the SA rounds, thus having to stick with the SA baffle?

Nope. Mine works on my .308 perfectly. It could actually be longer and still work.
